Taj Mahal is one of the seven wonders of the world. It also holds the privilege of attracting the highest number of foreign tourists in the world. A perusal of the old documents reveals that it was surrounded by beautiful gardens and trees. Excessive urbanization has led to deforestation and concrete structures have replaced the green cover which is essential to retain the pristine beauty of the Taj. Clean environment is must to halt the decay of marble, the stone used in the construction of the Taj. For this the forest department has undertaken plantation activities in the vicinity of the Taj.

Roughly 600 meters north-east to Taj lies ravenous reserve forest which provides a unique opportunity to view Taj. Amidst natural environs Taj can be viewed in different hues and shades from the mounds of this reserve forest. Every mound in this forest is related to the historical, literary and cultural heritage of the Brij-bhumi. The tourists visiting the Taj Nature Walk sensitize and educate themselves regarding forests, wild life and our natural heritage. This will also instill in them a feeling to conserve our natural heritage along with our culture and historical monuments.

The reserve forest has been the work place of Pandit Satya Narayan. He pursued his literary works in this very forest and was honored with the title of “Brij Kokil”. In the honorable memory of the great poet, Taj nature walk has been named as “Kaviratan Pandit Satya Narain Taj Nature Walk”. In this Taj Nature Walk tourists shall experience a unique blend of history, culture nature .
